About this place

What to expect

Bar Beach South in Narooma is picture-perfect, and one of the safest beaches on the Eurobodalla South Coast for children to learn to swim and snorkel. Naturally enclosed and protected near the mouth of Wagonga Inlet, it is further sheltered by the break-wall at its northern end, where a swimming net sits clear of the currents. Apex Park, right beside the beach, has everything you need for a family day out: a picnic area, barbecues, toilets, a large car park and children's play equipment. There is also a boat ramp, and it's not uncommon to spot seals near the boat ramp and fish cleaning tables. At the western end of the picnic area, a boardwalk follows Wagonga Inlet all the way into Narooma, making it easy to combine a swim with a stroll. Dogs are prohibited at the netted beach, the breakwalls and the inlet foreshore.
