Trentham Words in Winter Festival

Trentham Words in Winter is an escape from the chill of mid-year and a celebration of the power and delight of language in all its wondrous forms. Whether written, spoken, or sung, this series of events throughout the month of August explores how stories shape people's lives, and connect them through writing, thinking, poetry, storytelling, composing, and even friendly competition.

Proudly operating as a community-run festival since 2004, Trentham Words in Winter has grown into a cherished highlight on the local calendar. It draws creative talent from across the country while passionately showcasing local voices and artists.

The program offers a vibrant mix of community gatherings, storytelling, word challenges, and intimate ticketed events. From thought-provoking author talks and live readings to unique musical storytelling and shared feasts, there is something to spark every imagination. Step out of the cold and join us to celebrate, converse, and connect through language.
